Dr. Nana Ayew Afriyie being interviewed by journalists
The Parliamentary candidate for Effiduase Asokore, Dr. Nana Ayew Afriyie, has begun a massive re-grading of unmotorable roads to enhance mobility within the township of his constituency.
The soon to be Member of Parliament believes the gesture would enable his people who are predominantly farmers to transport their farm produce to adjoining markets to sell.
Interacting with journalists who accompanied him to inspect the project, the young Parliamentary hopeful decried the deplorable state of the roads within the constituency and blamed the district assembly for negligence and paying death ears to the cries of the people.
He noted that the deplorable state of the road networks has been a major source of worry for his people culminating in their inability to transport their farm produce to the market.
Re-grading
The Parliamentary Candidate further noted that this development is fast discouraging the people in the area from farming which is their major source of their livelihood.
Aware of the plight of the people, Dr. Afriyie took upon himself to personally fund the re-grading of roads within the constituency to help mitigate the effects of the bad state of the roads on the people.
The roads which are currently under re-grading are the Effiduasi – Ntunkumso road, Putrom- Senkyi road and the Naman- Anunya road.
Dr. Afriyie who also believes in the development of the youth thinks the best way to keep the youth from some threatening social vices is to ensure that they are active in sports and recreational activities.
To this end, he has taken upon himself to also re-grade the Methodist school parks in Asokore and Efiduase including all the town parks within the constituency to enable the youth to indulge in sporting activities.
Dr. Afriyie also told newsmen that one major problem which is frustrating the operations of the workers of the Asokore Oil Mill is the perennial flooding into their premises as a result of the overflow of the Oram River during raining season.
To bring this situation to a complete end, Dr. Afriyie is personally funding the construction of a drainage system to stop the flooding of the premises of the oil mill in Asokore.
